Hosts Push for Victory as Bangladesh Struggles on Day 4

Resuming play on Monday, the hosts made their intentions clear, needing just six sessions to force a win. Despite a placid pitch, India’s bowlers excelled, dismissing Bangladesh for 233, with Mominul Haque resisting with an unbeaten 107.
Switching gears, India adopted a T20-style approach, amassing 285 for nine at a rapid rate of 8.22 runs per over before declaring. This aggressive batting led to record-breaking feats, including the fastest team 50 (off 18 balls), 100 (off 74 balls), and 200 runs (in 24.2 overs) in Test history.
By stumps on Day 4, Bangladesh was reeling at 26 for two, with India’s off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin claiming both wickets. The visitors trailed by 26 runs, facing mounting pressure.
Young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal set the stage for India with a blistering 72 off 51 balls, initiating the innings with three boundaries in the first over. Captain Rohit Sharma followed suit, smashing consecutive sixes, signaling India’s aggressive intent.
Adopting a “see-the-ball, hit-the-ball” strategy, India reached the fastest team fifty in three overs. Bangladesh skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto quickly turned to spin, stemming the flow momentarily as off-spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz clean-bowled Rohit.
However, Jaiswal continued the onslaught, reaching his half-century, supported by Shubman Gill’s 39, contributing a pivotal 72-run partnership for the second wicket.
