Habitual Offender Arrested; Itanagar Police Recover Stolen Batteries
Itanagar, 21 September 2024 – The Itanagar Capital Police successfully apprehended a habitual offender and recovered a substantial cache of stolen batteries in a swift operation. The incident unfolded following a theft report lodged by shop owner Puleswar Lagachu, regarding the disappearance of 18 batteries from his shop located in the ‘H’ sector of Itanagar.
Upon receiving Lagachu’s First Information Report (FIR), the police promptly registered the case under Section 305(a) of the BNS, designated as case number ITA/PS/Case No. 181/24. Following this, a dedicated team led by Inspector Khiksi Yangfo, with Sub-Inspector Inya Tato, Head Constable Marki Kamgo, Constable Tacho Ligu, and Constable Sandeep Yadav, commenced a thorough investigation under the supervision of SDPO Kengo Dirchi.
Relying on intensified human intelligence efforts, the team brought in eight habitual offenders for questioning. Among them was Md. Enamul Islam, the primary suspect, who had recently been released from district jail for an earlier conviction (case ITA/PS Case No. 160/2023). Subjected to extensive interrogation, Islam eventually confessed to the theft and led the police to the location where all 18 stolen batteries were hidden.
Following the successful recovery of the stolen items, Islam was formally arrested and remanded to judicial custody.
