Ernakulam Reports 1,400 Dengue Cases Since September 1
Ernakulam has recorded approximately 1,400 confirmed and suspected dengue fever cases since September 1, with three fatalities reported over the past month. The deaths included a 37-year-old woman from Fort Kochi and two teenagers from Maradu and Kizhekkapuram. The district has averaged 50 cases daily since the beginning of the month.
The peak number of cases was on September 12, with 86 reported, including 32 confirmed and 54 suspected cases. Affected areas on that day included Angamaly, Binanipuram, Fort Kochi, Kakkanad, and others. On September 25, 40 confirmed cases were reported, with high incidences in Aluva, Kalamassery, Maradu, and various other localities.
Daily cases generally remained above 20, except for September 15, 16, and 22. During the first week of September, the daily average was 66 cases.
The outbreak underscores the urgent need for vigilance and preventive measures.
