Three Men Open Fire Near Tiger Shroff in Mumbai’s Juhu; Actor Safe
Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff escaped uninjured on Sunday evening when three men opened fire near his car in Mumbai’s Juhu area, wounding his driver and another person standing nearby, in an attack claimed by a man who identified himself as a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
The driver suffered a gunshot wound, while the other person was shot in the chest. The three attackers fled the scene on a motorbike. Shroff was reportedly leaving a football ground when the shooting took place. Videos showed five shots were fired, but a shooter’s gun jammed as he was about to fire a sixth, just inches from the actor.
Shortly after the attack, an audio clip surfaced in which a man identifying himself as Anil Pandit claimed responsibility on behalf of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, saying Shroff was on their hit list because “he was not heeding our directions” and “was working with Salman Khan”. Bishnoi, currently jailed in Gujarat, has repeatedly threatened to kill Salman Khan.
In the recording circulating on social media, the man can be heard speaking in Hindi: “I am Anil Pandit. I am like a younger brother to Lawrence Bishnoi. What happened with Tiger Shroff today, we take responsibility for that — Harman Sandhu and myself.”
He said Shroff “was counselled, but did not understand us”, and warned: “In the entire film industry, whoever works without aligning with us, or works with Salman Khan, will be killed. This is the first and last warning.”
The voice also repeated a threat that unless Salman Khan apologised to Lawrence Bishnoi and the animal-loving Bishnoi community — apparently over his alleged involvement in a blackbuck hunting case — “then we will not spare anyone in your family, not even your pet dogs”.
One person was later detained in connection with the attack, though further details were awaited.
While Tiger Shroff and Salman Khan have never starred together in a full-length feature film, the two share several industry connections. Salman Khan reportedly helped pave the way for Shroff’s entry into Bollywood by advising producer Sajid Nadiadwala to launch him. Shroff’s father, Jackie Shroff, has worked with Salman Khan in multiple major films, and the two actors have shared stages and frequently expressed mutual admiration for each other’s fitness and dedication to action films.
The gang’s fixation on Salman Khan is well documented. In 2023, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) said the actor topped the list of 10 main targets that jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi planned to eliminate, citing his infamous 1998 blackbuck hunting incident, which, according to the gangster, offended the Bishnoi community.
Sunday’s attack on Tiger Shroff comes two years after former Maharashtra minister and NCP leader Baba Siddique was shot dead on October 12, 2024, in Mumbai’s Bandra area. The Lawrence Bishnoi gang claimed responsibility for that killing, specifically because of Siddique’s close friendship with Salman Khan.
