Manipur: Retired Journalists’ Pension Hike-Defaulters’ One-Time Relief
Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh chaired a Cabinet meeting on October 1 to discuss increasing the monthly pension of retired journalists and family pension beneficiaries under the Manipur Working Journalists’ Pension Scheme. The Cabinet also considered a one-time relaxation allowing subscribers who had defaulted on payments to retain their membership in the scheme.
The meeting was held at the Cabinet Hall of the Chief Minister’s Secretariat in Mantripukhri. Deputy Chief Minister Nemcha Kipgen attended through video conferencing, while Home Minister Govindas Konthoujam, Chief Secretary Rajeev Singh Thakur, administrative secretaries and officials from various departments were present. The measures were discussed in the interest of working journalists and other public-welfare priorities. Khemchand Singh shared details of the meeting in a Facebook post on October 1.
Four Manipur Civil Service officers recently promoted to the Indian Administrative Service under the Manipur cadre also met the Chief Minister at his secretariat. They are A. Romita Devi, Additional Secretary of CAF&PD and SCERT; K. Bono Singh, Additional Secretary of Works and School Education; Kh. Lalmani Singh, Secretary of the Manipur Public Service Commission; and H. Balkrisna Singh, Additional Secretary of Home, Relief and Disaster Management and Project Director of the Loktak Development Authority.
The Chief Minister congratulated the officers on their promotion and wished them success in their new public-service roles.
