New Delhi, September 26 (IANS): The Delhi government has formed three special committees to oversee preparations for the upcoming Ramlila, Durga Puja and Chhath Puja celebrations in the national capital. Constituted on the directions of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, the committees will review and finalise festival venues and coordinate civic amenities, security, traffic management, sanitation, electricity and medical services to ensure safe and well-managed arrangements for devotees.
The Ramlila committee will be headed by Social Welfare, SC and ST Welfare, Cooperation and Election Minister Ravindra Indraj Singh. MLAs Ashok Goyal, Anil Kumar Sharma, Shyam Sharma, Sanjay Goyal and Sandeep Seharawat will serve as members, while the Secretary, Revenue-cum-Divisional Commissioner, will act as member secretary. The committee will coordinate the issuance of no-objection certificates through a single-window system and oversee drinking water, medical assistance, ambulances, fire services, mobile toilets, traffic, cleanliness, fogging and an uninterrupted electricity supply at Ramlila venues. It will also promote messages on environmental protection, Vocal for Local, water conservation, swadeshi and the Nasha Mukt Bharat campaign.
Kapil Mishra, Delhi minister, will head the Durga Puja committee. Its members include MLAs Shikha Roy and Neeraj Basoya, along with social workers Anjali Bhattacharya, Devdutt Bhardwaj and Arun Mukherjee. The panel will oversee civic and safety arrangements and will also ensure the provision of artificial or temporary ponds and tanks for idol immersion, along with the cleaning of remains after immersion.
Mishra will also head the Chhath Puja committee, whose members include MLAs Abhay Kumar Verma, Chandan Kumar Chaudhary, Sandeep Seharawat and Deepak Chaudhary, and social worker Santosh Ojha. The committee will monitor no-objection certificates, drinking water, medical and ambulance services, fire safety, mobile toilets, security, traffic, sanitation, fogging and uninterrupted electricity at ghats and other venues.
Rekha Gupta said Ramlila, Durga Puja and Chhath Puja are important festivals that reflect Delhi’s social and cultural diversity. She added that the government’s priority is to help devotees celebrate with devotion while ensuring adequate facilities, security, cleanliness and a well-managed environment.
