Security forces arrested four suspected insurgent cadres in separate intelligence-based operations in Imphal East on August 29, 2026, officials said. The arrests, carried out by CDO teams with inputs corroborated by Assam Rifles and Territorial Army units, also yielded explosives, ammunition, a vehicle and personal items, authorities added.
In the first operation, a team from CDO-Imphal West searched a house in Lamboikhongnangkhong and arrested 26-year-old Sinam Deven Singh from his residence. Officials identified him as an active cadre of KCP (Apunba) and said he was allegedly involved in extortion. Security personnel recovered one improvised explosive device (IED), five rounds of 9mm ammunition and a Suzuki Access 125 scooter during the raid.
A follow-up action in Khumbong Mamang Leikai led to the arrest of Lourembam Rakesh Singh, 24, alias Inao. He has also been identified by officials as an alleged KCP (Apunba) cadre and is accused of involvement in extortion activities.
Separately, based on intelligence from the 165 Territorial Army unit and corroborated by 31 Assam Rifles, CDO/Imphal East arrested 22-year-old Thangjam Peter Singh, alias Nanao, from Irilbung near the Forest Office Gate. Authorities said he is an active member of RPF/PLA.
In another action supported by intelligence corroborated by 33 Assam Rifles, CDO/Imphal East arrested 18-year-old Khwairakpam Premsunder Singh, alias Bungoba or Lamnganba, from Laipham Khunou (Lane No. 5). He was identified as an active member of KCP (Noyon). The operation recovered a mobile phone, one AirPod and a wallet containing Rs 3,630 along with identity documents.
Officials said the four arrests and the recovered items resulted from separate, coordinated intelligence inputs and corroborative verification by Assam Rifles and Territorial Army units. The detained individuals are in security custody as inquiries continue.
