Young bakers and their parents gathered for an afternoon of creativity and teamwork at the 6th edition of Hotel Palacio’s Bake-Off Challenge – Parents’ Day Special, held at Hotel Palacio, Khanapara on August 9, where Barnali Saikia and Saanvi Saikia took the top prize. Rupali Sarkar and Kritika Sarkar finished as first runners-up, while Kaberi Baishya and Aurelia Kalita claimed second runner-up.
Parent-child teams worked side by side, given one hour to decorate cakes around a prescribed theme. The time-limited format pushed participants to combine imaginative design with practical cake-decorating skills, producing colourful entries that showcased both individual flair and family collaboration.
A distinguished jury evaluated the creations: Nilakshi R. Sarma, baker and content creator; Salma Nasrin, lifestyle and food content creator; Chef Ananya Das, home baker, founder of FLIORAA and former Taj chef; Chef Arup Das, Executive Chef at Hotel Palacio, Khanapara; and Chef Nitin, Pastry Chef at Hotel Palacio, Paltan Bazaar. Their combined expertise guided judging on technique, presentation and adherence to the theme.
The event was supported by Magik Cook as the Powered by partner, enhancing the experience for participating families and contributing to the celebration.
Pradeep Mukherjee, General Manager of Hotel Palacio, Khanapara, said the Bake-Off Challenge is “about more than just baking. It gives parents and children an opportunity to spend quality time together, create something with their own hands and celebrate their bond.” He added that, after the event had been postponed due to recent floods, the hotel was especially pleased to see families return with enthusiasm and spirit.
The competition highlighted family bonding and community resilience, reinforcing Hotel Palacio’s role in promoting local culinary talent and offering engaging family-oriented events in Khanapara.
