Dibrugarh district administration has sent large-scale relief and rescue support to flood-hit neighbouring districts Sivasagar and Charaideo while continuing response operations within Dibrugarh. On July 25, 2026, following directions from Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, the administration dispatched supplies, teams and heavy equipment and arranged an Indian Air Force airdrop of 50 special relief kits to flood-affected areas in Nazira and Sivasagar.
Officials said 333,624 litres of packaged drinking water and 195,852 biscuit packets were sent to Sivasagar and Charaideo. Relief packets containing rice, pulses, salt, mustard oil and other essentials-enough for 45,000 people for seven days-have been prepared and dispatched. Additional supplies included 10,000 milk packets, 7,000 mustard oil packets, 15 quintals of chira to Sivasagar and 68 quintals of pumpkins to Charaideo.
To move relief materials, the administration deployed 96 light goods vehicles and 58 trucks, and sent about 36 labourers to Sivasagar to assist with loading and unloading. For waterborne rescue and evacuation, seven country boats were stationed in Sivasagar. The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) deployed two boats with six personnel in Charaideo and two boats with seven personnel in Sivasagar. Two National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams-each comprising 30 personnel and four boats-were also sent to Sivasagar for evacuation and rescue operations.
Public health measures were supported by the Dibrugarh Public Health Engineering Department, which supplied 34,000 NaDCC water-purification tablets, 15 bags of bleaching powder and awareness leaflets to PHED authorities in Charaideo to safeguard drinking water and hygiene. The Public Works Department deployed four Poclain excavators, six JCB machines and 13 dumpers to Nazira for restoration and emergency works.
The district administration said it will continue providing assistance to neighbouring districts while managing flood relief and recovery efforts within Dibrugarh.
