8 Minors Rescued in Changlang: Urgent Child Labour Operation
Dibrugarh: Eight children and adolescents were rescued from workplaces in Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh and handed over to their parents through the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), officials said. The operation was conducted under the leadership of Changlang Deputy Commissioner Vishal Sah as part of the Pan-India Rescue and Rehabilitation Campaign 4.0, a nationwide drive aimed at eliminating child labour.
Officials did not disclose the specific workplaces or the ages of those rescued but said the coordinated action focused on locating and removing minors employed in situations that contravene child protection laws. After rescue, the children were processed through the CWC and formally returned to family custody, the authorities added.
The Pan-India Rescue and Rehabilitation Campaign 4.0 seeks to identify child labour across states and ensure rescued children receive appropriate care and support through statutory bodies such as CWCs. Local administration officials described the Changlang operation as part of ongoing enforcement and awareness efforts to prevent exploitation of minors.
Authorities said follow-up steps will involve monitoring and any necessary welfare interventions through the CWC and other child-protection agencies. The rescue underscores continued official efforts to address child labour in the region.
