Nagaland Governor Urges Immediate Action on Women’s Development
Dimapur: Nagaland Governor Nand Kishore Yadav on Monday instructed the Women Resource Development Department to strengthen coordination with other departments and stakeholders, ensure effective implementation of its schemes, and continue building sustainable economic opportunities for women across the state. He made the call while reviewing the department’s programmes at Lok Bhavan in Kohima.
Yadav examined several flagship initiatives, including the Transformative Livelihood Intervention (TLI) Project, the Protection and Promotion of Tribal Designs scheme, Myki activities, the Multi Training Centre, the Integrated Development‑cum‑Resource Centre (IDRC), and the District Resource and Development Programme (DRDP), along with other entrepreneurship and skill‑development efforts aimed at women.
Officials briefed the governor on the proposed Myki Hub at Naga Heritage Village, Kisama, which is planned as a permanent market space for women entrepreneurs, artisans and farmers to showcase traditional and contemporary products. Backed by the Chief Minister’s Innovative Programme Fund, the project is slated for completion by November 2026.
The governor also reviewed progress on construction of working women’s hostels in several districts under the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) initiative, and discussed plans to expand women’s resource centres, strengthen livelihood interventions and improve market linkages for women‑led enterprises.
The department highlighted constraints of limited financial resources and manpower and requested greater support to scale up livelihood programmes across Nagaland. Yadav acknowledged the department’s efforts in skill development, entrepreneurship promotion and livelihood generation and urged sustained, coordinated action to deliver tangible benefits to women statewide.
