Ojing Tasing Asks Flexible Reforms to Boost Arunachal Rural Governance
Arunachal Pradesh Panchayati Raj Minister Ojing Tasing on July 3 urged a more collaborative and flexible approach to implementing rural governance reforms, saying adaptability is essential to meet the distinct needs of different regions. Speaking at a national workshop of State Panchayati Raj ministers chaired by Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh (Lalan Singh), Tasing called for implementation frameworks that can be tailored to local conditions, particularly in geographically diverse and remote areas such as Arunachal Pradesh.
Tasing argued that rigid, one-size-fits-all policies risk failing rural communities whose challenges vary by terrain, infrastructure and local capacity. He said flexibility in the design and execution of reforms would help ensure governance measures respond effectively to on-the-ground realities and community priorities.
Highlighting the need for strong Centre–state cooperation, Tasing stressed that coordinated efforts are crucial to strengthen grassroots governance. According to him, policies that allow states and panchayats to adapt programs locally will improve planning, accountability and the delivery of services to rural residents.
Tasing added that effective decentralised governance, backed by policy flexibility and joint action between levels of government, can accelerate rural development and enhance the overall functioning of Panchayati Raj Institutions across the country. The workshop saw participation from Panchayati Raj ministers from various states, underlining a national push to make rural governance more responsive and sustainable.
