পাহাৰীয়া ‘হোম ষ্টে’ত চাঞ্চল্যকৰ ঘটনা—যুৱতীৰ মৃতদেহ উদ্ধাৰ; প্রেমিক অচেতন
On Monday, police in Karnataka’s Chikkaballapur district recovered the body of a 26‑year‑old woman, identified as Surabhi, from a homestay; her partner, Sanjit Ali, was found unconscious in the same room and taken to hospital. Authorities have launched an investigation and sent the body for post‑mortem examination while forensic tests and other evidence are being examined to establish the exact cause of death.
Police sources said Surabhi is a resident of Bengaluru and Sanjit Ali is from Kerala. The two had a long‑standing relationship, and Surabhi had told her family she wanted to marry him; her family, however, objected to the match, according to investigators.
Investigators say that after the family’s objections the couple left home and Surabhi was later reported missing, prompting her family to file a missing‑person diary. Surabhi subsequently returned, told her family she was an adult entitled to choose her partner, and began living with Sanjit.
Police further said a case under the NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Act had previously been registered in connection with drugs seized at a party involving the couple. The family later removed Surabhi from the relationship and admitted her to the Mahishur rehabilitation centre, where she underwent roughly six months of treatment for alcohol and drug dependence before returning to Bengaluru to live with her mother.
Surabhi’s family has alleged that Sanjit had introduced her to drugs during their relationship and had physically assaulted her on multiple occasions, leaving visible injuries. Police have stated that these allegations have not yet been independently verified.
Sanjit remains under medical care in hospital; police officials said he will be questioned once his physical condition stabilizes. Authorities stressed that they are relying on the post‑mortem report, forensic findings and corroborating evidence to determine whether the death was due to natural causes, accident or foul play, and that further legal action will follow based on those results.
The case comes weeks after a homestay death in Dehradun and has renewed public concern about safety and accountability at short‑stay lodgings, prompting police to say they will examine all leads and evidence thoroughly.
