District-Level Pulse Polio Drive Held: Urgent Vaccination Boost
Mysuru MLA Tanveer Sait on Saturday morning inaugurated the district-level pulse polio vaccination programme and opened a new Primary Health Centre (PHC) at Badamakan, as part of a campaign led by the District Administration, Mysuru Zilla Panchayat and the Department of Health and Family Welfare. The events took place at PH Colony, Badamakan, where Sait urged parents to ensure children under five receive the polio vaccine.
Speaking at the function, Sait said community halls were increasingly being misused for anti‑community activities and called for such spaces to be repurposed for public services like hospitals and educational institutions. He also appealed directly to families to bring children in the under‑five age group for vaccination.
Dr. P.C. Kumaraswamy, Officer of the Department of Health and Family Welfare, highlighted the city’s “Namma Clinics,” saying they provide treatment for more than 40 types of ailments and that eight specialist doctors serve the clinics three days a week. His remarks emphasized the broader primary‑care network supporting the new PHC.
Several civic and law‑and‑order officials attended the programme, including MLC C.N. Manjegowda, former Mayor Arif Hussain, Deputy Commissioner G. Lakshmikanth Reddy, ZP CEO S. Ukesh Kumar, Superintendent of Police Mallikarjun Baladandi and DCP (Crime & Traffic) K.S. Sundar Raj.
The newly inaugurated Badamakan PHC was shifted from a building belonging to the police department in Jyothinagar to a renovated community hall in Badamakan. The hall’s renovation cost Rs. 80 lakh in total, with Rs. 30 lakh released from MLA Tanveer Sait’s LAD funds and Rs. 50 lakh contributed by Mysuru City Corporation.
