Two alleged associates of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang were arrested after a shooting outside a gym linked to Punjabi singer Guru Randhawa in Paschim Vihar on June 11, police said. The firing took place around 4 a.m. on Outer Ring Road; no one was hurt and seven empty cartridges were recovered. The arrests were made in Bahadurgarh on June 15 after a multi-day manhunt, officials added.
The two men detained are identified as Arman, 19, and Tushar (also called Tashu or Pinku), 21, both residents of Sonipat district in Haryana. Police said they were apprehended following targeted raids and tracking of the suspects’ movements across nearly 100 kilometres.
Authorities told reporters the suspects are alleged shooters linked to gangster Anil Pandit, a purported member of the Lawrence Bishnoi network who is believed to be operating from the United States. A social media post allegedly by Pandit went viral after the incident; police said the post claimed responsibility on behalf of the gang and suggested the attack was connected to individuals associated with Guru Randhawa, also referencing the singer’s alleged proximity to actor Salman Khan, whom the gang views as an adversary.
Recognising a possible organised-crime angle, the Crime Branch took over the investigation. Investigators reconstructed the assailants’ escape route, examined technical evidence and traced movements that led them to four suspects named by police as Sahil, Sagar, Arman and Tushar.
Police said Arman is a cousin of the two suspected shooters who remain at large, Sahil and Sagar. During questioning, Arman and Tushar allegedly admitted their involvement in the firing, according to officials. Tushar had reportedly returned to India from Russia less than two weeks before the incident; police said he had travelled on a study visa, was working there, and had contacted Sahil and Sagar shortly before the shooting.
Both accused have been remanded to police custody and are being questioned as investigators work to identify the wider network behind the attack. Police said efforts continue to apprehend the remaining suspects and to recover the weapon used in the incident.
