Arunachal Cabinet Grants 1-Year Age Relief for 2022 APPSC Aspirants
The Arunachal Pradesh Cabinet on June 16 approved a one-year extension of the one-time upper age relaxation for candidates affected by delays in the 2022 Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) recruitment process, a move intended to prevent eligible aspirants from losing their chance to compete for government posts. Chief Minister Pema Khandu announced the decision, saying “no deserving candidate should be deprived of an opportunity due to circumstances beyond their control.”
The extension applies to candidates who had applied for APPSC vacancies advertised in 2022 but subsequently became ineligible because the examinations were delayed. With the Cabinet’s approval, those eligible will receive an additional year of upper age relaxation and will be allowed to participate in the recruitment examinations.
Khandu described the measure as a decisive step to protect the interests of aspirants whose age eligibility was affected by administrative delays. He emphasised that the extension is aimed at ensuring fairness and equal opportunity for those impacted by the prolonged recruitment timetable.
The APPSC process saw significant disruptions in recent years, prompting concerns among applicants who had submitted applications within the advertised age limits but faced disqualification when the exams were postponed. The Cabinet’s decision seeks to address those concerns by restoring eligibility to affected candidates.
The move has been welcomed by APPSC aspirants across the state, many of whom had been requesting age-relaxation measures in view of the delays. Officials said the decision reflects the government’s commitment to safeguarding candidates’ interests and ensuring a fair recruitment system.
