Urgent: 4 Schoolgirls Missing in Guwahati’s Basistha — Police Search
Four schoolgirls reportedly went missing under mysterious circumstances on June 1 in the Basistha area of Guwahati. The students, who attend Beltola Majhipara Middle English School and live in the Beharbari locality of Basistha, left home for school at around 8 a.m. and did not return by late evening.
When the girls failed to come back, family members searched the neighbourhood and tried repeatedly to contact them. After those efforts proved unsuccessful, worried relatives approached the police and lodged a formal complaint at Basistha Police Station.
The missing students have been identified as Nirupai Ray, Ayushree Singh, Jilmil Daimary and Rumi Baruah. Following the complaint, police launched a search operation to trace their whereabouts and began enquiring with local residents and possible witnesses.
The disappearance of four pupils from the same school on a single day has alarmed residents of the locality. Authorities say they are investigating the matter and examining all possible angles as the search continues.
Further details are awaited as police continue their efforts to locate the girls and determine the circumstances of their disappearance.
