Assam: North East Public English School Celebrates 10th Foundation Day
North East Public English School in the greater Rowta area of Udalguri district marked its 10th foundation anniversary with a vibrant cultural programme, celebrating a decade of education since its establishment in 2016. The event, held at the school campus under the 47 No. Mazbat Legislative Assembly Constituency, featured music and dance performances by students across grade levels and recognised high-achieving pupils from recent board examinations.
The celebrations opened with a ceremonial lighting of lamps by the school’s chairman, named in reports as Dr. Maheshwar Brahma (also cited as Dr. Maheshwar Boro), and chief guest Varun Kumar, Commandant of the 23rd Battalion of the Border Security Force (BSF), Lalpul. The BSF commandant praised the institution for bringing positive educational change to the educationally backward Rowta area.
Students who excelled in the recently declared HSLC (High School Leaving Certificate) and Higher Secondary examinations were felicitated during the programme. Chairman Dr. Maheshwar (Brahma/Boro) emphasised the school’s multilingual approach, saying “equal importance is given to Assamese and Bodo languages along with English-medium education.”
School officials highlighted rapid enrolment growth as evidence of local trust in the institution: student strength has risen from about 200 in 2016 to more than 1,200 today, a development the chairman credited to the dedicated efforts of teachers and management. The anniversary underscored the school’s expanding role in improving access to quality education and cultural learning in the Rowta community.
