ত্ৱিষা শৰ্মাৰ রহস্যজনক মৃত্যু: শাহু গিরিবালা সিং নিজেই ওকালতি, চাঞ্চল্য
A major development in the widely reported case of Twisha Sharma’s mysterious death in Bhopal unfolded on Saturday, as retired district and sessions judge Giribala Singh announced he will personally appear and argue his defence in the High Court at Jabalpur on May 25, 2026. Singh’s decision follows the withdrawal of his private counsel, advocate Ishok George Carlo, who stepped away from the matter after a dispute with the media.
Twisha Sharma died under mysterious circumstances at the couple’s residence in Kotra Hills, and Giribala Singh has been accused in an FIR of murdering his wife allegedly over dowry demands. Recognising the case’s gravity, Singh secured anticipatory bail from a Bhopal court on the day the case was registered, allowing him temporary relief from arrest.
Twisha’s father, Navnidhi Sharma, has challenged the anticipatory bail before the High Court, alleging that Singh has attempted to destroy evidence connected to the investigation. The Jabalpur bench has issued notice in the petition and sought a response on why the anticipatory bail should not be cancelled. The next hearing is set for May 25, 2026.
On Saturday morning a team of lawyers visited Singh’s home to discuss legal strategy, and sources say Singh intends to represent himself at the forthcoming High Court hearing. The former judge’s choice to argue his own case has heightened public attention and added a sensitive dimension to proceedings.
Singh’s long judicial career included important postings such as district and sessions judge, registrar, and member-secretary of the Madhya Pradesh State Legal Services Authority. Given his former positions in the justice system, his personal appearance in court is being closely watched by legal observers and the public alike.
With the High Court set to consider whether to maintain or revoke anticipatory bail, all eyes are on the May 25, 2026 hearing for a potentially decisive ruling that could affect the course of the investigation and any subsequent criminal proceedings.
