Meghalaya, Oxford Policy Management Launch Major Annual Health Survey

The Meghalaya government on Tuesday signed a memorandum of agreement with Oxford Policy Management India to carry out an annual health survey aimed at generating comprehensive public health data to improve policy formulation and monitor healthcare programmes across the state, officials said.

The agreement was executed between the State Health Systems Resource Centre (SHSRC), Meghalaya, and Oxford Policy Management India in the presence of National Health Mission Meghalaya Mission Director Ramakrishna Chitturi. D Valerie Laloo signed on behalf of the Meghalaya health department while Prabal Vikram Singh represented the organisation.

Officials said the survey will create a systematic, regular mechanism for collecting health-related information to strengthen evidence-based healthcare services and support more effective planning of medical facilities statewide.

Beyond routine reporting, the initiative is intended to produce periodic public health statistics that go past conventional data collection methods, enabling policymakers to make better-informed decisions and to improve implementation of healthcare schemes.

Authorities expect the survey to help identify emerging health concerns, map disparities between districts, monitor the progress of welfare programmes and increase accountability in healthcare delivery. Access to timely, region-specific data is seen as critical for more efficient allocation of resources.

Officials added the collaboration reflects the Meghalaya government’s wider push for data-driven governance and for strengthening institutional systems for continuous assessment and monitoring of public healthcare services.
