CBSE Class 10 Pass Percentage in Sikkim Govt Schools Jumps 7.66%
GANGTOK, May 1, 2026 — Government-run schools in Sikkim recorded a significant improvement in CBSE Class 10 results for 2026, with the overall pass rate rising to 84.24 percent, up 7.66 percentage points from 76.58 percent in 2025, the State Education Department said. A total of 5,158 students from government schools sat the exam this year and 4,345 cleared it.
The department highlighted a steady upward trend over recent years: pass rates were 54.55 percent in 2023, 61.47 percent in 2024, 76.58 percent in 2025 and 84.24 percent in 2026. Officials said the share of students in the lower score bracket (33–60 percent) has fallen, signaling overall improvement in learning outcomes.
Score distribution shows that 20.64 percent of students scored between 60 and 70 percent, 7.92 percent between 70 and 80 percent, 3.01 percent between 80 and 90 percent, and 0.37 percent scored above 90 percent. The department attributed the gains to targeted academic interventions, stronger monitoring and reinforced school-level support systems.
District-wise, Mangan posted the highest pass rate at 92.86 percent, while Soreng recorded the lowest at 77.69 percent. Four districts recorded pass rates above 80 percent: Mangan (92.86 percent), Pakyong (90.71 percent), Gangtok (88.42 percent) and Namchi (80.64 percent).
Attendance and repeat-candidate data also improved, with officials reporting negligible absenteeism and a controlled number of repeat cases — indicators the department said reflect better student support and exam preparedness. Girls outperformed boys across all districts, and several districts reported female pass rates exceeding 90 percent.
Out of 211 government schools, 46 achieved a 100 percent pass rate and 42 schools posted results between 90 and 99 percent, with the majority of schools scoring 70 percent and above. “This demonstrates institutional strengthening across the State rather than isolated excellence,” the department said, calling the 2026 results a turning point that signals a shift from recovery to sustained academic excellence.
