Relief as NHIDCL Confirms Two Dibrugarh Tolls Within 14 km Meet Norms
The National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd. (NHIDCL) has stated that two toll plazas located within a 14-kilometre stretch in Dibrugarh district are operating in full compliance with the existing rules and guidelines of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH). The clarification was issued in response to a public grievance that questioned the proximity of the toll points.
In its reply, NHIDCL affirmed that the placement and functioning of both toll plazas adhere to the applicable MoRTH norms and procedures. The corporation emphasized that the installations meet regulatory requirements governing toll operations and have been implemented following the prescribed guidelines.
The proximity of two toll plazas within a short distance had drawn attention from local road users and stakeholders, who raised concerns about potential duplication of charges and inconvenience for commuters. The public grievance prompted the authority to review and formally confirm the legal and procedural basis for both facilities.
NHIDCL’s statement indicates that, pending any further official action, toll collection at the two plazas will continue under the current arrangements. The clarification aims to reassure motorists and local residents that the matter has been examined and that the toll points are being operated in accordance with central highway regulations.
