Orange Alert: Severe Thunderstorms, Heavy Rainfall in Tripura
The Meteorological Centre, Agartala, on Monday, April 27, issued an orange alert for parts of Tripura, warning of moderate thunderstorms with lightning, gusty winds and isolated heavy rainfall over the next two days (April 27–29). The bulletin names Khowai and West Tripura districts as most likely to be affected and signals the potential for significant local impact from adverse weather.
According to the weather bulletin for April 27–28, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds reaching 50–60 kmph are very likely at one or two places in Khowai and West Tripura. These conditions may produce isolated spells of heavy rain in those areas.
The alert is extended for the subsequent period of April 28–29, with similar weather expected again in Khowai and West districts. Authorities have therefore maintained the orange alert status for these areas to reflect the continued risk.
For the remaining districts of the state, the Meteorological Centre has issued a yellow alert. While less severe than an orange alert, the yellow advisory still indicates a likelihood of thunderstorms, lightning and isolated gusty winds of 50–60 kmph at scattered locations.
The Meteorological Centre said it will continue to monitor evolving weather patterns and urged the public to stay updated through official channels. The advisories aim to keep communities informed about the Tripura weather outlook and possible disruptions from thunderstorms, lightning and heavy rain.
