Arunachal Governor Praises Itanagar Mayor’s Clean, Green Drive
Arunachal Pradesh Governor K.T. Parnaik has praised Itanagar Mayor Likha Nan Tadar and the Itanagar Municipal Corporation (IMC) for visible improvements in city cleanliness and for strengthening the capital’s green identity. In a communication to the mayor, Parnaik said the changes reflect effective governance and a firm commitment to making Itanagar cleaner and more liveable for residents.
The Governor highlighted the importance of “Clean and Green” initiatives and cited green development practices implemented by the Black Cat Division in Sikkim as a model the city could study for further progress. His remarks framed the recent efforts as part of a broader push toward sustainable urban management.
Separately, the IMC has installed CCTV surveillance across the Itanagar Capital Region to detect violations and levy fines on those caught dumping garbage in public spaces. Officials said the surveillance system is intended to strengthen enforcement of waste-management rules and deter littering and illegal dumping.
Municipal authorities described the combined approach-public cleanliness drives, green development measures, and technology-enabled enforcement-as necessary to sustain momentum and improve overall urban hygiene. Residents and stakeholders were urged to cooperate with enforcement measures while participating in ongoing greening efforts.
If sustained, officials say, these actions could reinforce Itanagar’s image as a greener, better-maintained capital and contribute to higher quality of life for its inhabitants.
