Relief: Sikkim’s LPG Supply Stable – Backlog Only 1.46 Days

The supply and distribution of LPG cylinders in Sikkim remain steady, with the current backlog limited to just 1.46 days, officials said in a state and central government release. According to the latest update issued on April 16, 2026, the total pending LPG bookings in the state stand at 5,284 while average daily deliveries are 3,618 cylinders, figures that a senior IOCL officer said translate to the short backlog and reflect effective last‑mile supply management.

“The Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, in coordination with the State government and LPG distributors, continues to monitor supply lines closely to prevent disruptions. Adequate LPG stocks are being maintained at bottling plants and godowns to meet household demand,” the press release said, underscoring ongoing central‑state coordination to keep supplies uninterrupted.

To support those who cannot obtain regular LPG connections or lack LPG passbooks-such as students, migrant labourers and other temporary residents-selected distributors and agencies in Gangtok district have been supplied with 5‑kg Free Trade LPG (FTL) cylinders. Officials said this measure aims to ensure access to cooking fuel for vulnerable and transient populations.

State authorities are also publishing next‑day cylinder distribution schedules for different areas on electronic and digital platforms to maximise public awareness and help consumers plan refill timings. The government has urged citizens not to resort to panic buying of petrol, diesel or LPG, stressing that necessary measures are in place to maintain uninterrupted availability of these essential fuels.

Consumers have been advised to use digital booking platforms for refills to avoid unnecessary visits to distributors and to rely only on official sources for information. As supplementary guidance, officials recommended adopting alternative cooking options-such as electric or induction stoves-where feasible and practising energy conservation in daily activities during the current situation.
