The project is targeted for completion by December 2028.
The chief minister was joined on the visit by MLAs Dr. Sapam Ranjan (Konthoujam) and Sorokhaibam Rajen (Lamsang), Chief Secretary Dr. Puneet Kumar Goel, Additional Chief Secretary (Transport) Anurag Bajpai, Commissioner to the Chief Minister N. Ashok Kumar, Director Transport Kh. Diana, and other senior officials.
Officials of the Northeast Frontier Railway briefed Singh on the construction status of Imphal Railway Station and the overall progress of the Jiribam–Tupul–Imphal line. Authorities outlined current works and timelines as part of the briefing, underlining the project’s role as a key infrastructure initiative for the region.
Singh also visited the construction site of Tunnel No. 12 at Sangaithel, described as a critical component of the railway alignment. There he interacted with engineers and project authorities to assess on-site work and discuss implementation challenges that could affect delivery.
When completed, the Jiribam–Tupul–Imphal railway is expected to substantially enhance rail access to Imphal, shorten travel times, and more fully integrate Manipur with India’s national railway network, strengthening transport links for passengers and freight across the Northeast.
