Trump Vows to Destroy Iranian Warships Near U.S. Blockade
The Israeli military said on Monday (April 13, 2026) that its forces had completely surrounded the key southern Lebanese town of Bint Jbeil and had begun an assault there after killing more than 100 Hezbollah fighters in and around the town over the past week, marking what Israel described as a significant advance in its invasion of southern Lebanon.
“The forces of the 98th Division have completed the encirclement of the town of Bint Jbeil and have begun an assault on it,” the military’s Arabic‑language spokesman, Colonel Avichay Adraee, wrote on X, saying the recent fighting included “face‑to‑face” clashes and air strikes.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told a cabinet meeting, in a video statement released on Monday (April 13, 2026), that since Sunday the fighting in southern Lebanon had been “concentrated” in Bint Jbeil and that operations there were ongoing. “The fighting continues. It has not stopped — it is ongoing all the time. Yesterday and today it has been concentrated in Bint Jbeil,” he said.
Netanyahu said Israeli troops were pushing Hezbollah fighters away from the border and creating what he called a “solid security belt, deeper than before,” intended to prevent infiltration and reduce the anti‑tank threat. He added that forces had struck what he described as “terror villages” along the frontier, saying many terror positions had been flattened.
Hezbollah, which is backed by Iran, said it has been engaged for days in clashes with Israeli forces in Bint Jbeil. The developments were reported by AFP.
