Iran’s IRGC Warns: Any Enemy Move in Strait of Hormuz Will Be Lethal
Tehran, April 13 — Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy warned on X that any “erroneous” move by the “enemy” in the Strait of Hormuz will have deadly consequences, sharing what it described as “drone surveillance footage of the real situation in the Strait of Hormuz.”
The IRGC Navy said all movements and non‑movements in the strait are under the complete control of Iran’s armed forces and warned that “Any erroneous maneuver will trap the enemy in deadly whirlpools in the strait.” US Central Command (CENTCOM) said two US warships transited the Strait of Hormuz on Saturday and began mine‑clearing operations in the Gulf; Iran’s main military command, Khatam al‑Anbiya Central Headquarters, “strongly” denied CENTCOM’s account, Xinhua reported.
In an exclusive report, state‑run Press TV said the US attempt to send two destroyers through the strait on Saturday “ended as a failed propaganda stunt timed to coincide with (Tehran‑Washington) talks in Islamabad.” Press TV identified the ships as USS Michael Murphy and USS Frank E. Peterson and said they were forced to retreat by Iran’s naval forces. The IRGC also issued a statement on Sunday saying any military vessels approaching the Strait of Hormuz “under any title or pretext will be considered a ceasefire violation and will be dealt with severely.”
The report recalled a broader escalation earlier this year, saying that on February 28 Israel and the United States launched joint attacks on Tehran and other Iranian cities that, the piece claimed, killed Iran’s then‑supreme leader Ali Khamenei along with senior commanders and civilians. According to the article, Iran responded with waves of missile and drone strikes against Israeli and US targets and tightened control over the Strait of Hormuz, restricting passage by vessels belonging to or affiliated with Israel and the United States.
The story says a two‑week ceasefire between Iran and the United States took effect on Wednesday and that subsequent Islamabad talks between Iranian and US delegations were lengthy but failed to reach an agreement. (IANS)
