পানবজাৰ থানাত হাজিৰ কুনকি চৌধুৰীৰ হুঙকাৰ: কাৰণ আৰু প্ৰতিক্ৰিয়া
Kunki Choudhury, the opposition alliance candidate for the Guwahati Central constituency, appeared at Panbazar police station on April 12, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. to submit his statement after being summoned by police following an FIR filed by BJP worker Naw Lahkar. Choudhury met the investigating officer, answered questions and, after the questioning, told reporters that all allegations against him were “baseless” and that he had full faith in the country’s investigative process.
Speaking to journalists outside the station, Choudhury said he had been fully prepared to set the record straight and welcomed the summons because it gave him an opportunity to file an official statement. He accused those who brought the electoral conduct violation charges of pursuing a politically motivated campaign and insisted the truth would emerge quickly once the probe advanced.
Choudhury also said he had earlier lodged a complaint with the Kamrup Metropolitan district election officer about the matter; the administration, recognising the complaint’s importance, issued a public notice the same evening. He expressed frustration that, while authorities acted promptly on the complaint against him, there had been little progress on the FIR he filed with the Crime Branch.
Highlighting a specific concern, Choudhury pointed to a fake video purportedly created using AI technology that has been used against him. He described the lack of effective police action on that alleged deepfake as “mysterious” and urged authorities to investigate it thoroughly so the campaign and the electorate can have a clear record of what actually transpired.
