In early 2023, a casual conversation among three friends-Sid Mewara, Mayur Sharma, and Priyadarshini Raje Scindia-sparked an initiative aimed at transforming the fragmented landscape of the food and beverage (F&B) industry. Characterized by its competitive and often cutthroat nature, the F&B community prompted Sid, a chef-turned-venture capitalist and co-host of the popular food entertainment show “The Big Forkers,” to seek a more collaborative environment.

Recalling their initial discussion, Sid noted, “This industry can be very fragmented, back-stabby… it’s a territorial place.” Priyadarshini, recognizing the potential of their ideas, urged her friends to move beyond mere talk. She pushed for action, stating, “We should stop faffing and actually get something (done) together.” This call to action catalyzed their meetings, leading them to gather at Jai Vilas Palace in Gwalior, Priyadarshini’s ancestral home.

The palace setting became a creative hub, where the trio brainstormed ideas that would ultimately shape their venture. “It all came together there,” Sid explained, reflecting on how their discussions evolved into a concrete plan aimed at fostering a more unified community within the F&B sector.

Mewara’s experience in the culinary space and Scindia’s venture capital background blend well, positioning them to drive meaningful change. Their collaborative efforts are particularly timely, as the global F&B industry increasingly emphasizes cooperation over competition, especially in light of challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

As they work towards their goal, the trio is focused on developing platforms that not only promote inclusivity but also empower small businesses and independent creators. By creating networks and sharing resources, they hope to mitigate the isolation often felt by individual players in the industry.

In a landscape where digital presence is paramount, Mewara and Sharma are also looking to leverage technology to enhance interactions within the F&B community. “We want to bridge gaps and create avenues where everyone feels included,” declared Sid.
