Kokrajhar Rallies Voters: Urgent Push for April 9 Poll Readiness
Kokrajhar district administration has stepped up preparations to ensure peaceful polling for the Assam Assembly elections scheduled on April 9, focusing on voter awareness and strengthened security arrangements. Officials say the measures aim to encourage turnout while preventing disruptions across the district’s five constituencies.
An election awareness rally was held in Kokrajhar town on April 6, led by District Commissioner P. Uday Praveen and Superintendent of Police Akshat Garg. The Additional Superintendent of Police and other senior officers also participated in the event, which brought together administration and police personnel to engage with voters and local stakeholders.
Organisers said the rally sought to inform residents about polling procedures, emphasise the importance of participation, and reassure the public about safety at polling stations. The administration presented the campaign as part of a wider effort to maintain law and order during the election process.
Officials added that similar outreach and security initiatives are being rolled out across all five constituencies in the district to ensure uniform preparedness. These steps include coordination between civil and police authorities, deployment planning, and voter-awareness activities aimed at reducing confusion on polling day.
District Commissioner P. Uday Praveen said the administration is fully prepared to conduct free, fair and peaceful elections and that necessary arrangements have been put in place to prevent disruptions and strengthen voter confidence. He urged citizens to come out and vote on April 9.
With polling three days away, authorities stress that the combined focus on awareness and security is intended to deliver a smooth voting experience and safeguard the integrity of the electoral process.
