Assam’s Boko–Chaygaon: Security Intensified, Flag March Ahead of Polls
Kamrup district police on Sunday, April 5 carried out a flag march and area-domination exercise in the Boko–Chaygaon Legislative Assembly Constituency as part of heightened security preparations for the upcoming elections. The visible patrols and coordinated deployments were intended to reassure voters, deter unlawful activity and test operational readiness across the constituency.
The operation unfolded under the supervision of the Co-District Superintendent of Police, Boko–Chaygaon, and involved personnel from the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) alongside the Officer-in-Charge of Boko Police Station. Officials said the joint effort combined local police capabilities with CAPF support to strengthen on-ground law-and-order arrangements ahead of polling.
Joint teams swept several localities, including Dakuapara, Raipara and Tepsia. Authorities described the area-domination exercise — a proactive, high-visibility patrol designed to assert security presence and disrupt potential threats — as a key tool for creating a safe environment for voters and election staff.
Police sources noted that similar coordinated drills are being conducted regularly across Kamrup district to maintain deterrence and ensure a conducive atmosphere for the electoral process. The exercises also serve to assess communication, mobility and response procedures among different security units.
The Kamrup District Police reiterated its commitment to maintaining peace and security during the election period, emphasizing efforts to facilitate free and fair polling through sustained deployment, surveillance and community reassurance.
