Manipur CM Invokes Vajpayee, Strongly Backs BJP’s Goala in Cachar
Silchar, April 5: With campaigning in its final stretch, Manipur Chief Minister Y. Khemchand Singh on Sunday invoked the legacy of former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee while campaigning for BJP candidate Rajdeep Goala in Udharbond, urging voters to back the party for continued development and decisive leadership.
Speaking at a public rally in Rongpur, Singh said Vajpayee’s politics were rooted in integrity and a “nation-first” approach, contrasting them with what he called the “opportunistic politics” of the past. He added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has carried forward that legacy, steering India toward rapid development and greater global prominence.
Turning to the Northeast, Singh credited Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma with ushering in a new phase of growth across the state. “From Guwahati to emerging urban centres, visible improvements in infrastructure, connectivity and urbanisation have transformed the state,” he said, using Assam’s progress to underline his appeal for votes.
Making a direct electoral pitch, Singh told the crowd the BJP’s governance record “leaves little room for ambiguity” and argued that when development is visible and leadership is decisive, the choice at the ballot box becomes clear. He urged voters to continue supporting the BJP to sustain the momentum.
Earlier, Rajdeep Goala addressed members of the Manipuri community, recalling his long association with them and his tenure as a two-time MLA from Lakhipur. He credited community leaders for strengthening grassroots outreach across 22 Manipuri villages in the constituency and noted that with over 1.84 lakh voters, decentralised campaigning has helped the BJP expand its reach. Goala said the ground response pointed to a decisive mandate and assured that local concerns and development priorities would remain central if he is elected.
