Owaisi’s Bold Assam Message: ‘Miyan Will Endure’ Rallying Cry
On April 2 in Morigaon district, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president Asaduddin Owaisi delivered a defiant appeal to supporters, saying his camp would not be cowed by political opponents and urging continued mobilisation ahead of Assam’s Assembly elections. “Those who want to finish us off should listen: the world will remain alive as long as Miyan is alive. We are not afraid of anyone,” Owaisi told the crowd.
His remarks came amid intensified campaigning across Assam ahead of the Assembly polls scheduled for April 9. Owaisi framed his speech as a rallying cry to energise supporters and counter criticism from rival parties, stressing resilience and solidarity within his constituency.
At a separate rally in the Binnakandi constituency, Owaisi campaigned for All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) chief Badruddin Ajmal and the party’s candidates, projecting the regional party as a decisive force in state politics. He asserted that Muslim voters in Assam would “cast their votes unitedly” for the AIUDF and predicted victory for Ajmal’s slate: “Muslims will cast their votes unitedly, and Badruddin Ajmal’s 29 candidates will win. Assam’s politics will be decided by the AIUDF.”
Owaisi also accused the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of pursuing “hate politics” and criticised the Indian National Congress for remaining “silent” on what he described as a polarising political environment. He argued that such dynamics have strengthened the AIUDF’s support among minority communities.
The speeches underline the heightened communal and electoral stakes in Assam as parties intensify outreach in the final days before voting. Owaisi’s public appeals aim to consolidate minority votes and position regional allies at the centre of the contest, while sharpening the political debate over identity and campaigning tactics in the state.
