Samuel Changsan, Executive Member responsible for the Health and Family Welfare portfolio in the Dima Hasao Autonomous Council, died in Guwahati on the evening of Wednesday, April 1, 2026. Officials said he passed away at about 7:45 pm at a private hospital in the city, where he had been receiving treatment.
Changsan had served as a key figure in the council’s administration, overseeing public health and family welfare programs in the hill district. His death prompted an outpouring of condolences from political leaders and colleagues across Dima Hasao.
Chief Executive Member Debolal Gorlosa expressed grief over Changsan’s demise and recalled his contributions to the council and public service in the district. Former minister Nandita Gorlosa also conveyed her condolences, calling his passing a loss to the region.
District BJP president Dhrity Thousen, former MLA Samarjit Haflongbar, and BJP candidate Rupali Langthasa were among others who mourned his death and extended sympathies to the bereaved family.
Leaders highlighted Changsan’s role in public health administration and his involvement in the council’s governance, saying his absence would be felt in ongoing health initiatives across the district.
