Shocking Pre-Poll Violence in Morigaon: BJP Office Vandalised
A BJP campaign office at Booth No. 13 in Bhuiyaguri under Konwar Gaon Panchayat in the 54 No. Morigaon Assembly constituency was allegedly vandalised late at night by unidentified miscreants, officials said. The attack, reported as an incident of pre‑election violence, took place after party workers had closed for the evening, according to local accounts.
Party workers said the assailants tore down party flags, banners and posters and ransacked the office, damaging chairs and tables. “We were working till 10 pm. After that, around midnight, this incident happened,” a local BJP worker said, describing how the perpetrators used the cover of darkness to carry out the attack.
Local sources and officials confirmed the location and timing but did not identify the suspects. Residents in the area expressed concern, calling the vandalism unfortunate and worrying given the proximity of the elections.
The incident adds to tensions in the lead‑up to polling, as political offices often become targets in heated contests. Authorities and party representatives have been notified, and the episode has prompted calls from residents for calm and for the maintenance of a peaceful election environment.
