Shock in Jogighopa: Bihar Constable Dies on Assam Poll Duty
A police constable deployed for election duty in Assam died while on duty at Jogighopa in Bongaigaon district on March 29, officials said. The deceased has been identified as Dayanidhi Singh, a constable of the Bihar Special Armed Police (BSAP), 60th Battalion, who was stationed at a temporary police camp set up at the Multi-Modal Logistics Hub in Jogighopa. He reportedly fell ill suddenly while on duty and was taken to the Chapatala Community Health Centre, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Singh had been deployed in Assam as part of security arrangements for the Assam Legislative Assembly elections, according to officials. The exact cause of death has not been determined.
Following legal formalities, Singh’s body was sent to Bongaigaon Civil Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Police authorities said they are investigating the circumstances surrounding the sudden death.
