Experience the Exquisite Taste of Authentic French Cuisine at PAUL Bengaluru: A Culinary Journey Like No Other!
Croissants, quiches, cookies, and coffee are just the beginning of what PAUL, a French bakery founded in 1889, has to offer. Known for its European sensibilities, this family-run chain opened its first outlet in Bengaluru this January, making a striking entry into the Indian culinary scene. With a presence in 47 countries, PAUL is not just about excellent breads and pastries; it offers a delightful array of viennoiseries-an irresistible fusion of bread and pastry-that pair perfectly with their coffee, teas, and other beverages. The generous cup sizes make for an ideal light breakfast, but it’s hard to resist their tempting selection of tarts, crepes, and éclairs, even if you stumble over names like “mille-feuille.”
One standout feature of PAUL is its all-day breakfast menu, ensuring that no one misses out on signature items like croissant sandwiches, French toast, and a variety of omelettes. A must-try is the croque monsieur, a classic ham and cheese sandwich that here uses chicken ham and Emmental cheese. Golden and crispy, it arrives with a side of salad and fries-perfect for the famished or indecisive diner. Rich in flavors and textures, it’s both substantial and satisfying, making it an excellent choice for any meal.
In addition to the croque monsieur, we tasted the coq au vin, a traditional French dish where chicken is braised in red wine. At PAUL, this comforting meal is served with vegetables like carrots and mushrooms on a bed of creamy mashed potatoes, creating a hearty and fulfilling plate that showcases the restaurant’s dedication to authentic French cuisine.
Of course, no visit would be complete without sampling one of PAUL’s acclaimed desserts. We chose the fleur de lys, a light and airy dark chocolate mousse cake that is a hallmark of the bakery. Despite our full stomachs, this delectable treat was impossible to resist.
Notably, PAUL stays true to its continental roots, refraining from overly Indianizing its dishes. An interesting exception is a masala egg bhurji croissant spotted on the menu. The cottage cheese steak is also intriguing, served with jalapeño sauce and almonds-certainly not a dish for the faint of heart.
While there are countless vegetarian and eggetarian options available, such as poke bowls, pastas, and pizzas, they are served in their authentic forms, allowing diners to experience the true essence of French culinary traditions. This commitment to authenticity invites guests to return and explore more of the menu.
In conclusion, PAUL represents not just a bakery, but a charming gastronomic experience that encourages exploration and indulgence. With its inviting atmosphere and commitment to quality, the outlet in Bengaluru is sure to become a go-to spot for both locals and visitors craving a slice of Paris in India.
