Agartala, March 28, 2026 — The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) held a large protest rally in Bishalgarh on Saturday, accusing unnamed actors of running a “malicious and conspiratorial campaign” on social media aimed at local MLA Sushanta Deb and seeking to undermine development in the constituency. Party leaders said the demonstration was staged to push back against what they described as sustained attempts to mislead voters and damage the MLA’s reputation.
BJP Mandal officials told the crowd that a section of individuals has been spreading propaganda against the Bishalgarh MLA for a considerable period. The party framed these activities as deliberate efforts to tarnish both the image of the representative and the standing of the constituency, urging supporters not to be influenced by such content.
The rally saw a significant turnout of BJP workers and supporters. The procession began at the BJP Mandal office in Bishalgarh and ended at the Office Tilla Kalibari grounds, where senior party figures addressed the gathering and reiterated their allegations.
During the event, speakers issued stern warnings to opposition parties, specifically naming the Congress and the CPI(M), and accused them of indirect involvement in the alleged smear campaign. Party leaders said the “baseless propaganda” would not be tolerated and pledged to take action to defend their elected representative.
Leaders also alleged that a “malicious clique” was attempting to stall ongoing and proposed development projects in Bishalgarh, hurting the area’s progress. They emphasized that voters are aware of the development work carried out under MLA Sushanta Deb’s leadership and would not be swayed by misinformation.
The rally concluded with the BJP asking all “conspiratorial elements” to desist and reaffirming its commitment to continue development work in the region without disruption. The report did not include any response from the Congress or the CPI(M).
