Massive Ram Navami Procession in Dhubri, Assam Draws Thousands
Thousands of devotees took to the streets of Dhubri on the evening of March 27 to celebrate Ram Navami in a grand procession that turned large parts of the town into a vibrant sea of saffron. The march, held to mark the birth of Lord Rama, drew an overwhelming turnout and brought key areas to a standstill as participants moved through main thoroughfares.
The procession reached its peak near the prominent Bishnu Cinema Hall, where the air filled with devotional chants, rhythmic drumming and traditional songs. Colourful tableaux, religious flags and cultural performances punctuated the route, with the rally stretching across several blocks and drawing devotees from across the town.
Local volunteers and community organisations played a central role in managing the event, distributing water and refreshments and helping maintain order amid the dense crowds. Organisers said the coordination by volunteers ensured the procession proceeded smoothly despite the large turnout.
Authorities implemented temporary traffic diversions on major routes to manage congestion, and security personnel were deployed in significant numbers to maintain law and order as the procession moved through Dhubri’s main streets. The measures aimed to ensure public safety while allowing the celebrations to continue.
Participants described the gathering as a powerful display of unity and devotion, reflecting the town’s cultural traditions and communal spirit during the Ram Navami celebrations.
