CM Pema Khandu Lauds Theatre-Based Anti-Ragging Campaign in Arunachal
Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu has praised a theatre-based anti-ragging programme organised by the Kamsa Dramatics Society (KDS) under Paalin Kabak, saying the initiative is helping create safer and more inclusive school environments across the state. The programme has reached nearly 1,000 students in 10 districts through staged performances, interactive dialogue and participatory exercises designed to address ragging and its effects.
KDS’s approach uses dramatic scenes and facilitated discussion to engage students, encourage empathy, and open channels for reporting and preventing harassment. Officials say this creative, participatory method helps young people recognise the emotional harm caused by ragging and builds skills for peer support and conflict resolution.
The Chief Minister lauded the organisers for addressing a sensitive issue in an innovative way and said such efforts help nurture emotionally aware and confident students. He also acknowledged the Department of Education, Arunachal Pradesh, for its support in implementing the programme across multiple districts.
Officials described the initiative as a significant step toward fostering a positive, safe learning atmosphere statewide. By combining arts and education, the programme aims to shift school culture away from hazing and toward respect, inclusion and emotional well‑being for all students.
