No Change to LPG Refill Booking Timelines, Govt Debunks Viral Claims
Guwahati: The Central Government has clarified that there has been no change to LPG refill booking timelines, dismissing recent media reports and social media posts that claimed new waiting periods had been introduced. The clarification responds to viral items suggesting altered refill intervals for different consumer categories.
Those false reports reportedly stated that waiting periods would be 45 days for PMUY connections, 25 days for non-PMUY single-bottle connections, and 35 days for non-PMUY double-bottle connections. PMUY refers to the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, the government scheme that provides LPG connections to women from economically disadvantaged households.
The government emphasized that these reported timelines are incorrect and that existing rules and booking procedures remain unchanged. The clarification is intended to reassure millions of LPG consumers who rely on timely refills for cooking and household needs.
Officials and consumer groups have urged users to ignore unverified social media posts and rely on announcements from authorised channels and distributors for accurate information. The government notice underlines the importance of checking official sources before acting on viral claims to avoid unnecessary confusion.
