Sikkim Hikes Dearness Allowance 5% — Relief for Employees, Pensioners
The Government of Sikkim has raised the Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) for state employees and pensioners, a Finance Department circular issued on March 18 said. The increase, effective from July 1, 2025, raises DA/DR for those on the pre‑revised pay structure from 252 per cent to 257 per cent, and for those on the revised pay structure (7th Central Pay Commission) from 55 per cent to 58 per cent.
Officials said the revised rates will also apply to contractual staff and workers employed under work‑charged establishments, provided their pay falls within the regular state government scales. All India Service officers serving in Sikkim will receive the same adjustments: an increase from 252 per cent to 257 per cent for officers on the pre‑revised pay band, and from 55 per cent to 58 per cent for officers paid under the 7th CPC structure.
The Finance Department clarified the method for computing revised payments: any final amount with a fraction of 50 paise or more will be rounded up to the next rupee; fractions below 50 paise will be ignored.
The circular states the move follows recommendations of the Pay Committee and continues an earlier government notification issued in October 2025. Dearness Allowance and Dearness Relief are intended to partially offset inflation’s impact on salaries and pensions; the increase will therefore raise monthly pay and pension disbursements for eligible beneficiaries from the stated effective date.
