AAP’s Second Assam Candidate List: Key Nominees Revealed
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Tuesday, March 17 released its second list of candidates for the upcoming Assam Assembly elections, naming six nominees for constituencies the party described as strategically important. The list includes Ballav Patra for Dispur, Pranab Priyangshu Dutta for Jorhat, Ranu Mai Teronpi for Barhampur, Biresh Difoesa for Diphu, Saynul Haque for North Karimganj, and Elvin Baruah for Palashbari.
Fielding Ballav Patra in Dispur — the constituency that contains Assam’s administrative capital — signals AAP’s intention to make a stronger push in urban Assam, while the nomination of Pranab Priyangshu Dutta in Jorhat targets a key seat in Upper Assam. The party framed the selections as part of a calibrated effort to broaden its presence across Upper, Central and Lower Assam.
This second release follows an initial list announced earlier in the week that featured candidates such as Achyut Das (Naoboicha), Pulin Gogoi (Dergaon), Jarbom Kutum (Gohpur) and Anurupa Dekaraja (Central Guwahati). Other first-phase nominees included Ashis Hazarika (Khumtai), Tapan Gogoi (Sivasagar), Tikendra Thapa (Ronganadi), Zahidul Islam Khan (Chenga), Ranjeet Boro (Naduar), Pallav Saikia (Titabar), Jinna Amir Hussain (East Goalpara), Barun Bikas Das (Raha), Renuka Timungpi (Bokajan) and Ananta Gogoi (Biswanath).
The candidate lists were issued in an official statement by Rajesh Sharma, AAP’s Assam state in-charge. The announcements mark a continued effort by AAP to mount an expanded electoral campaign across multiple regions of Assam ahead of the assembly polls.
