Shocking Arrest: Manipur Constable Linked to Banned KCP (MFL)
Security forces on February 24 arrested a serving constable and driver with the Manipur Police on allegations that he was recruiting cadres for the banned militant outfit KCP (MFL). The arrest took place in his home locality during a security operation following intelligence leads.
Authorities identified the detained officer as 43-year-old Kongkham Sanajaoba Singh, also known as Ibomcha, a resident of Utlou Chanura under Nambol Police Station in Bishnupur district. Officials say he was apprehended from his residence as part of the operation.
According to security sources, Singh remained an active member of the Manipur Police while allegedly operating covertly as a cadre of the proscribed Kangleipak Communist Party (Military Faction), commonly referred to as KCP (MFL). He is accused of recruiting new members for the organisation.
The KCP (MFL) is banned for its involvement in insurgent and unlawful activities in Manipur, and the arrest is part of broader efforts to disrupt militant networks in the state. Security agencies say the detention followed specific intelligence inputs pointing to Singh’s underground links and recruitment activities.
Investigations are ongoing to establish the full extent of his involvement, identify his network, and determine whether any sensitive or operational information was compromised while he served in the police. Authorities have not released further details pending the inquiry.
