NE SEA Confluence Boosts North East India–South East Asia Ties
Bangkok — The Emerging North-East Eco Forum (ENEEF), in partnership with the Thai Bharat Cultural Lodge (TBCL), held the “NE SEA Confluence: North East India × South East Asia Confluence” in Bangkok on February 14, 2026, bringing cultural institutions, industry bodies, academics and international networks together to deepen ties between North‑East India and South‑East Asia. Organisers framed the event as a long‑term engagement platform to use cultural diplomacy, economic dialogue and sectoral partnerships to position North‑East India as a strategic gateway linking South Asia and South‑East Asia.
The Confluence opened at the Thai Bharat Cultural Lodge with ENEEF chairman Satyajit Aribam underlining cultural diplomacy as a foundation for trust and sustained institutional and economic cooperation. Sessions were moderated by Jyoti Rekha Bora, who guided structured discussions across multiple sectors.
Speakers addressed tourism cooperation, digital economy development, cybersecurity, connectivity infrastructure, creative industries and knowledge‑economy partnerships. Panelists included Dr. Simone Natali, Niranchai Tripati, Sanjeev Jindal, Titas G and Rajendra Pandey, who spoke on hospitality, luxury resort development and construction as avenues for cross‑regional integration.
A high point of the programme was the formal recognition of Manipuri artist Mangka Mayanglambam as ENEEF Cultural Ambassador, acknowledged for promoting North‑East Indian cultural identity on regional and international stages. Mangka also performed in a cultural segment alongside members of the Manipuri community in Thailand, highlighting diasporic cultural unity.
Several TBCL supporters — including Rajendra Pandey, Sushil Pandey, Rakesh Mettakhun, Sushil Kumar Dhanuka, Khun Sutham Sajjatep, Somsong Sachaphimukh and Sunil Kothari — were credited with strengthening community‑level cultural and institutional links. Participants came from India, Thailand, Malaysia, China, New Zealand, Italy, Israel and the United States.
During the event a special‑edition “M x Michelangelo” commemorative bag designed by Pichet Nitipaisalkul was presented, and ENEEF signalled an intent to explore future collaboration with Michelangelo International to support creative‑industry opportunities linked to North‑East India.
Organisers said the NE SEA Confluence aims to catalyse tourism growth, expand creative industry collaboration, facilitate knowledge exchange and seed early institutional dialogues that could evolve into structured cross‑regional cooperation frameworks.
