Breaking: APSC Declares Revised CCE 2024 Results After Cancellation
The Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) on February 17, 2026, announced a revised result for the Combined Competitive Examination (CCE), 2024, a day after it withdrew the earlier notification because of a reservation-related discrepancy affecting the Moran and Motok communities. The Commission said the results published on February 16, 2026, were withdrawn within hours owing to an “inadvertent error” in the notified list; the corrected list was issued following a directive from the state Personnel Department and in line with a government Office Memorandum dated October 19, 2023, on reservation provisions for Moran and Motok within the OBC/MOBC category.
In the revised result, two candidates from the Moran community and two from the Motok community have been allotted posts under the OBC/MOBC quota, in accordance with applicable reservation norms and government instructions. The Interview/Viva-Voce for the examination was held with experts deputed by the Government of Assam from January 20 to February 9, 2026; the outcomes were re‑verified, finalised and approved by the Commission on February 17, 2026.
For the Assam Civil Service (Junior Grade), 45 posts have been filled, including 11 reserved for women. The category-wise break-up is: 24 posts under the Open Category (7 reserved for women), 13 under OBC/MOBC (3 reserved for women, and including the two posts each set aside for Moran and Motok candidates), one under Scheduled Caste, five under Scheduled Tribe (Plains) including one reserved for women, and two under Scheduled Tribe (Hills). Two posts are reserved for Ex‑Servicemen and none have been marked for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD).
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma told the media the cancellation on February 16 was prompted solely by a reservation allocation issue and not by corruption or any other irregularity. He said both Moran and Motok groups had raised concerns, which led the Commission to review, cancel and promptly reissue the corrected merit list in keeping with government policy.
According to the merit list released by the Commission, Nihar Ranjan Deka topped the CCE, 2024, with Rajnish Sarmah and Panchali Devi placed second and third respectively. The corrected APSC result restores reservation compliance and aims to address community grievances while finalising appointments to the Assam Civil Service.
