Standard household blankets and throws can be washed at home with detergent powder. Soak them in water with detergent for 20–30 minutes before washing. Be mindful that dust and stored fabrics can trigger allergies or asthma in sensitive people; anyone with respiratory issues should thoroughly clean the storage area before putting items away.
As a final step, when winter returns next year, take your stored items out and air them in the sun once more before use. That simple habit helps remove any stale odors, reduces moisture, and ensures your winter wardrobe is ready and safe for the season ahead.
