PM Modi to Inaugurate PMO’s ‘Seva Teerth’ Tomorrow — Key Details
New Delhi, Feb 12: The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) will move from the British-era South Block to the newly completed Seva Teerth at Kartavya Path on Friday, February 13, 2026, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Seva Teerth complex and the adjacent Kartavya Bhavan-1 and Kartavya Bhavan-2. The relocation marks a major reorganisation of India’s administrative footprint in the Central Vista area, with the Seva Teerth set to house the PMO alongside the National Security Council Secretariat and the Cabinet Secretariat.
Officials say the Prime Minister will first unveil the name “Seva Teerth” at about 1:30 p.m. and later formally inaugurate Seva Teerth and both Kartavya Bhavans, before addressing a public programme at Seva Teerth around 6 p.m. The move shifts key decision-making offices into a purpose-built, consolidated complex designed for modern governance.
Kartavya Bhavan-1 and -2 will host several high-profile ministries, including Finance, Defence, Health & Family Welfare, Corporate Affairs, Education, Culture, Law & Justice, Information & Broadcasting, Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Chemicals & Fertilisers, and Tribal Affairs. The consolidation aims to improve inter-ministerial coordination and public access to government services.
Both complexes feature digitally integrated offices, structured public interface zones and centralised reception areas intended to streamline citizen interactions, boost collaboration and enhance employee well-being. Built to 4-Star GRIHA standards, the buildings incorporate renewable energy systems, water-conservation measures, waste-management solutions and high-performance building envelopes to reduce environmental impact.
“These measures significantly reduce environmental impact while enhancing operational efficiency. The building complexes also include comprehensive safety and security frameworks, such as smart access control systems, surveillance networks and advanced emergency response infrastructure, ensuring a secure and accessible environment for officials and visitors,” an official statement said. The state-of-the-art facilities are positioned as future-ready alternatives to the ageing amenities at South Block, signalling a broader shift toward a more efficient, citizen-centric government infrastructure in New Delhi. — IANS
