Empowering Future Innovators: MoE Innovation Cell Initiative at GCU Azara
A three-day Regional Mentoring Session (RMS) on Innovation is set to take place from February 4 to February 6 at Girijananda Chowdhury University in Azara. This intensive program is organized by the Ministry of Education’s (MoE) Innovation Cell in collaboration with NCERT and the Department of School Education & Literacy (DoSEL), specifically for teachers and students of PM SHRI schools. The RMS aims to cultivate ideation, design thinking, and innovative problem-solving skills, aligning with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
The Guwahati chapter is spearheaded by Nandajit Rabha, the Nodal Centre Head from the MoE Innovation Cell, in coordination with Prof. S. Robert Ravi, the Dean of the School of Engineering and Technology at the university. Participants will engage in technical workshops led by experts from the Wadhwani Foundation, a global non-profit focused on promoting entrepreneurship and job creation. These experts will guide educators and students through structured frameworks such as the ‘Spark Quest’ and D.I.S.R.U.P.T model, which simplify the complexities of the innovation process. The curriculum will also cover foundational topics like Design Thinking, AI in school innovation, and prototype development, alongside a practical visit to the university’s Incubation Centre.
This regional session seeks to transform PM SHRI schools into creativity hubs, aiming to establish a ripple effect where these exemplary institutions mentor nearby schools. Supported by the MoE Innovation Cell and the Wadhwani Foundation, this collaborative ecosystem ensures that young innovators acquire the 21st-century skills necessary to turn classroom ideas into real-world solutions.
